40 hours total flight time, including:

  • 20 hours instruction from a CFI
  • 3 hours instruction in last 60 days
  • 3 hours cross-country instruction
  • 3 hours instrument instruction
  • 3 hours night instruction
  • 10 hours solo
  • 5 hours solo cross-country

Additional Requirements

  • 1 cross-country flight of at least 100 nm
  • 10 take-offs and full stop landings in the traffic pattern
  • 3 legs with full stop landings, 1 leg at least 50 nm, straight line
  • 3 full stop take0offs and landings in the traffic pattern at an airport with an operating Control Tower
  • Must pass written test, grade of 70% or better
  • Pass Third Class Airman's Physical Exam

  • Pass oral & flight test given by FAA examiner
